Bobby Manuel is the owner of High Stacks Records and is a talented producer and guitarist. He began his career at the Stax Records. When Stax Records closed in 1975, Mr. Manuel worked as an independent producer, and worked with Stax Records co-founder Estelle Axton. In 1976, Bobby Manuel with Memphis disc jockey Rick Dees came up with Disco Duck, which soared to the top of the pop charts. Disco Duck was the last pop song recorded in Memphis that reached the No. 1 spot on the pop charts. After Disco Duck, Bobby formed a partnership with Jim Stewart, the other co-founder of Stax Records and remained partners for 18 years. Jim Stewart retired, and Bobby started High Stacks Records. The label has produced several of the artist from STAX records including Rufus Thomas, Ann Peebles, The Tempree's and others. Bobby has lately focused on adding the Contemporary Christian and Gospel genres to his label.
